It was in rural Italy that JOE BLOW first came to life. Between hand rolled cigarettes and generous glasses of wine we toured air-hangers, basements and barns; squeezing through narrow labyrinths of furniture collected over half a century. But not only were these spaces filled with celebrated design classics - meticulously kept in original condition – all around us were towering industrial shelves stacked with single table legs, cushions, typewriter keys and all manner of broken parts. It was in seeing such careful gathering of materials we began to understand that Italian furniture was not just a product to be sold, but a piece of history to be preserved. As one supplier put it - “once they are gone, they are gone forever”.
It is due to this experience that we desire to not only offer objects made of quality materials with timeless design – but to educate consumers on the philosophy and historical significance of Italian design. Importing most of our stock, we release small and highly curated furniture hand-picked for its beauty and longevity.
