Lesbo table by Angelo Mangiarotti for Artemide 1967. Mangiarotti was an Italian architect, designer, urban planner and academic. In 1967 he conceptualized the Lesbo lamp to evoke the ‘architecture of water” with its droplet shape and soft Murano glass. Named in honour of the ancient Greek poetess Sappho (who lived on the island of Lesbos), Mangiarotti hoped to reflect her mystery in the lamp's ethereal form.
